A planned wildlife crossing structure over the Conejo Grade in Newbury Park will increase connectivity for wildlife at the nexus of multiple open space areas. Construction of the crossing is being considered in tandem with a widening of Highway 101 between Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks and state Route 33 in Ventura County. The crossing would support habitat connectivity of the threatened local population of mountain lions as well as deer and black bear.
