A wildlife crossing at Gaviota Pass will significantly reduce the 200-300 vehicle collisions with mammals estimated to occur on Highway 101 in Gaviota each year. The crossing will expand an existing culvert to better facilitate wildlife movement for a wide range of local species from small amphibians and reptiles to larger mammals including mule deer, mountain lions, and bears.
