The Mammoth Lakes 395 Wildlife Crossing is a proposed wildlife crossing corridor between the towns of Mammoth Lakes and Crowley Lake. The planned project will include retrofits to an existing undercrossing as well as the construction of three new undercrossings, two overcrossings, and associated fencing, jump outs, cattle guards, and animal detection systems. The project will reduce deer-vehicle collisions by providing safe passage opportunities for mule deer herds that cross the highway during their seasonal migrations. The wildlife crossings will also benefit other local species including mountain lions, coyotes, gray foxes, and bobcats.
