State Route 108 bisects an active breeding meadow within Yosemite critical toad habitat designated by US Fish and Wildlife Service. A roadkill hotspot was identified at Upper Sardine meadow. Wildlife crossing structures (modified cattle guard and culvert structures) and associated fencing were installed to provide safe passage for toads under the roadway.
